Spring into action this new season

Clive Msomi

The symbolism of entire activities that occur in Spring is somehow attached to life experiences. The blooming of the flowers and turning of the green plant back into color tells you of something new and exciting. It is like a formation of a new skin while old one is peeling away, depending on how you look at things. To most this season gets us ready for a hot season-Summer which differs in forms and levels of rain.

When my editor asked that we celebrate spring as the new beginning, I found myself looking at the similarities that spring has to that of a human life and how fitness ties in that picture. It was thus ideal what has been raised by my editor, due to the fact that most people fall on the other side during winter and start all over again during Spring to get back to goals that they had set at the beginning of the year.  It is during Spring time that we also use this time as a springboard to get our lives back on the path that we have chosen when the leg of this race began at the beginning of the year.

The idea of getting back on the fitness wagon is not an easy ride. There are a number of reasons attached to this, and vary with each individual. But the most reason that stands out, is the forever changing of the fitness world trends as new ways of doing things are always coming out. At times these trends can live one feeling cold to join in.

It is for this reason that we have compiled these following activities you may want to consider as you make your way to discovering a new you, we hope either of this activities can also fit in with your training schedule .

  1. Walking

Still remains the most under-utilized activity due to technology and the type of life that we find ourselves into, which is fast paced and each time the speed changes for one to keep up. It remains under-utilized because we have forgotten to take some time out and walk outside and just marvel on life and what it presents. There are safety issues that are also entangled around this which is taken into to consideration. The beauty that walking presents is amazing and is benefiting to your body and also save you some coins. A 3 to 5 km walk as a start will set things off more, once you start to enjoy the distance you can travel without feeling tired. Walking remains the most popular type of exercise in the U.S at 30% when compared to other activities such as weightlifting which is at 13% whilst swimming and all other water sports are at 8.4 %, which tells us why we should take another walk to the other side.
