Growing up as an under privilege girl herself Zama was eager and determined to encourage and motivate girls to discover their power and create positive change in their lives and communities. Her growing up experiences challenged her to share with other young girls, which is the reason she decided to establish a foundation for the young girls named after her late Mother as Mafutha Foundation. The foundation has already started its journey by fulfilling its mandate which is to groom and nurture young girls still at school while providing them which necessary needs.

Their first successful campaign held recently at Inanda, Ohlange High School learners from grade 8 to 12. The campaign created a condusive atmosand platform for the young girls attended showing passion, excitement and enthusiasm. The campaign themed ‘Young Lady it is possible” was never going to be a success without the mother body Esigodlweni SeziNdlovukazi  (Queen’s Palace), where Mafutha Foundation is an affiliate. Zama Shange joined this women network Queen’s Palace that aimed at empowering, motivating and supporting early 2017.

Among the organisations and individuals who attended and made the campaign were Queens of eSigodlweni seziNdlovukazi, its Founder Indluvukazi Mapule, entire team of Inanda FM, Inkanyiso Crew who documented the event with its leader Prof. Zanele Muholi. Also in attendance was Miss Junior SA, Kholeka Zondi who appeared as Special Guest. Miss Zondi a young sophisticated inspiring 15 years old young lady, who motivated and engaged with the young girls.

Apart from the motivation talks, the girls were given sanitary towels which was donated by the Mafutha Foundation supporters. The main purpose of the event has been to teach the young girls to be leaders, to love and support one another, embrace their differences, and enlighten their God given talents and dealing with issues that the girls face at school and home that may distract their education and bright future. The girls were introduced to the EsiGodlweni SeziNdlovukazi youth group called the Inheritors, where later all the girls filled in the Inheritors joining forms, from the Inheritors, Princess Sibusiswe Shangase, a young, artistic and very talented lady, blessed the girls with her beautiful, commanding voice when she sang, Vusi Nova “Thandiwe” and Amanda Black “I do”, the girls enjoyed her graceful performance.

The mission for this day was thoroughly executed and achieved, the young ladies were given hope and motivation. The girls engaged, participated, asked questions and laughter and appreciation filled the hall.  Ohlange High School was the first of 20 schools that Mafutha Foundation – The Inheritors plans to visit.
